INAUGURATION OF LNG DRIVEN VESSEL SOMTRANS LNG

The construction of the second pilot vessel ‘Somtrans LNG’ has been recently completed. Somtrans LNG was inaugurated on April 26th and received a delegation from the European Commission’s Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA). The construction of the Somtrans LNG has been made possible with co-financing from the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility.


The Somtrans LNG (135 x 22,80m, 14.000m3) is amongst the largest European inland vessels taken into operation. It is the second pilot vessel in the Action ‘Breakthrough LNG deployment in Inland Waterway Transport’. The first pilot vessel in the Action, ‘The Werkendam’, was commissioned in 2018.
